The current rising 11th and 12th graders are dedicated and hard working students. They excel in math and critical thinking skills.
One area that can be improved for all these students no matter the school or district they are in, public or private, is grammar. I believe this group was in critical middle school years during the pandemic school disruptions, and I am seeing it impact their test scores. Many high achieving students have learning gaps in early standard English conventions. If you do one extra thing to prepare for your SAT or ACT this year, spend extra time on Grammar, Punctuation, and Standard English Conventions!
Most students learn English grammar in middle school, and by high school most grammar practice is continued through learning foreign languages. Take a moment and dig back through those middle school English class notes, or better yet book a tutoring session with me and we can find your learning gaps and re-learn together!
